My reading of the days, Earth 2.0 – Kepler-22b

Kepler-22bKepler-22b is the first confirmed extrasolar planet found by NASA’s Kepler Space Telescope to orbit within the habitable zone of a Sun-like star. Kepler-22b, a possible super-Earth, is 600 light years away from Earth, in orbit around Kepler-22, a G-type star.
The discovery was announced December 5, 2011. The planet was originally discovered on Kepler’s third day of science operations in mid-2009. The third transit was detected in late 2010. Additional confirmation data was provided by the Spitzer Space Telescope and ground-based observations.

The Attacks Everyone Sort of Understands

Worm: Originating in a Xerox Palo Alto Research Center 1979 by engineers, a “Computer Worm” was originally designed to make programs run more efficiently, then later corrupted to be a destructive computer virus that can alter or erase data on computers. Often times, they leave files irretrievably corrupted or slow the PC down to a crawl.

Trojan Horse: A long time and common infection found amongst even the newest of computers, this destructive program disguises itself as a harmless application. Although Trojans are incapable of self-replication, they are still just as destructive as a computer virus. In an act similar to its Greek origin, often times a Trojan horse opens up a backdoor to your computer enabling potential viral infections and allowing hackers to control the PC. Origins trace back to MIT hacker turned NSA spook, Dan Edwards.

Phishing: Originated by hackers who were stealing America On Line accounts by scamming passwords from unsuspecting users, “phishing” is the age-old crime of taking ownership of sensitive information from third parties (phishing scam victims). Information includes usernames, passwords, banking information, and credit card numbers. This is typically accomplished from sending someone an e-mail fraudulently claiming to be a legitimate company, or redirecting someone to a website that looks legitimate but isn’t. More often than not, the direct result of being phished is your identity being stolen.

The Security Attacks Most People Have Never Heard Of

Smishing: Smishing or “SMS phishing” refers to a phishing attack that specifically targets mobile phones. The victim would receive an SMS with a hyperlink wherein a malware automatically finds its way in your phone or leads the user to a phishing site formatted for mobile screens. The term was brought on by David Rayhawk in a McAfee Avert Labs blog.

Botnet (Zombie PCs): A portmanteau of the words “Robot” and “Network,” a Botnet is any number of internet computers that inconspicuous to their owners; forward e-mails (any of which include spam, malware, or viruses) to other computers on the internet. These infected computers are also known as “zombies”. DoS attacks (Denial of Service) often rely on thousands of zombie PCs.

BlueBugging: A craze originally jumpstarted by a Malaysian IT Professional, bluebugging (not to be confused with bluesnarfing) allows a more skilled person to illegally access a cellular phone via Bluetooth wireless technology. This act often times goes unnoticed without any proper notification or alerting to the phone’s user. A vulnerability such as this allows phone calls, SMS messages to be read and sent, phonebook contacts to be erased, phone conversations to be tapped, and other malicious activities. But much to the hacker’s dismay [I think the hacker knows the limitations… perhaps the point is that widespread impact is minimized because of the range…], access is only attainable within a 10 meter range of the phone.

Today reading. Initial Public Offerings – IPO

An initial public offering (IPO) , referred to simply as an “offering” or “flotation”, is when a company (called the issuer) issues common stock or shares to the public for the first time. They are often issued by smaller, younger companies seeking capital to expand, but can also be done by large privately-owned companies looking to become publicly traded.
In an IPO the issuer may obtain the assistance of an underwriting firm, which helps it determine what type of security to issue (common or preferred), best offering price and time to bring it to market.
An IPO can be a risky investment. For the individual investor it is tough to predict what the stock or shares will do on its initial day of trading and in the near future since there is often little historical data with which to analyze the company. Also, most IPOs are of companies going through a transitory growth period, and they are therefore subject to additional uncertainty regarding their future value.

My reading of the days, F-22 Raptor, Transonic, Different ROM

F-22 Raptor is a single-seat, twin-engine fifth-generation supermaneuverable fighter aircraft that uses stealth technology.

Transonic speed is an aeronautics term referring to the condition of flight in which a range of velocities of airflow exist surrounding and flowing past an air vehicle or an airfoil that7 are concurrently below, at, and above the speed of sound in the range of Mach 0.8 to 1.2, i.e. 600-900 mph.

Read-only memory (ROM) is a class of storage media used in computers and other electronic devices. Data stored in ROM cannot be modified, or can be modified only slowly or with difficulty, so it is mainly used to distribute.

EEPROM (also written E2PROM and pronounced “e-e-prom,” “double-e prom” or simply “e-squared”) stands for Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory and is a type of non-volatile memory used in computers and other electronic devices to store small amounts of data that must be saved when power is removed, e.g., calibration tables or device configuration.

The ROM mobile device using normally are EEPROM. Which stand for Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory. People commonly call it as ROM. It can be write by software but this not for write frequently as RAM. Besides it reading speed slower than RAM.

Happy New Year 2009 to Thief

Happy New Year 2009, another year to begin, my first experience in this near year was my wallet stolen by someone when I in the KTM from Tasik Selatan to KL Sentral from 1230pm to 1pm.
If not mistaken my wallet being stolen when almost arrive to Mid Valley, I confirm my wallet still in my pocket one station before Mid Valley. I noticed it when people going out from KTM in Mid Valley.
As a result, I lost my wallet with RM230++, IC, Car & Motor License, ATM cards, Credit Cards, Medical Card, Bonuslink, Jusco card, My GF photo, and etc…

Police Report
After the incident I direct to KL Sentral to report police and went to Brickfields police station to chop or approve of the report. Mean while call to my ATM & Credit Cards issued bank to block all the cards. Because it was a holiday, I can only re-register my IC and License tomorrow.

This incident or better call an experience really improve my knowledge on being stole, I now know how to report police (in Stolen case), action needed and behavior needed. For me I still go to shopping as planned after the case (3pm only), of choose with money borrow from GF and bought some stuff.

Luckily my Touch n Go card still with me because I didn’t put into my wallet, and my GF beside me. My advises will be more careful and keep some money with you in either pocket or some place “else”, if bad luck wallet been stolen you still got some money with you.
